Channel art.

The first thing people see is how your YouTube channel looks. It must match your service, or whatever the case may, it must be related.

The perfect ratio = 2048 px by 1152 px. When you struggle, you can get inspiration from checking out the free templates on Canva. You can also hire a graphic designer to make it happen.

Channel layout.

When you want to structure your – channel – you must look into the layout section within the channel art.

Those things help you market your channel simply. So what you must pay attention to are the ratios and the placement.

You should have a quick introduction as a featured video, so when viewers go to your channel, they get the idea faster.

You can also place one in the description and automate it. Another thing you can do is to write a bio in the about section.

Channel branding.

The branding of a YouTube channel is the most vital part of it. Most viewers check your videos out only if the branding is up to date.

If the quality of your YouTube branding is low. Then it can end up in fewer views or low results.

That can hurt your PageRank because you don’t have quality supportive videos that link. The YouTube branding rules are:

  1. Have a channel art or banner. (must reflect your business/service/products)
  2. The recommended file size for creating the profile picture.
  3. Video watermark – you have 3 options. (I choose to show it the entire video)

Channel thumbnail.

Do you know what a thumbnail is? It is the first image viewers see before they click the video.

In other words, the thumbnail must reflect the video as a whole, so others get an expectation whether they like it or don’t. By default, YouTube selects not the best thumbnails.

Quick tips for creating thumbnails.

  1. Know the thumbnail – legit ratio.
  2. Create one in Canva.
  3. Light and bright colors. (2-3 color tone)

Channel cards.

That is a small information box that helps you to share suggestive content in the video. If you share the YouTube video, you also distribute the -suggestive content.

This is a video marketing tactic that is useful for your videos. The best card tactic is to spread them in 3 up to 4 with some space between them.

Here is the basic YouTube marketing setup when adding cards. (click the image to enlarge)

Channel end screen.

The visibility of that has to be at the end. There you have different choices of how you want to show that. You can also move them across your screen for better placement.

Creating YouTube outro’s can help you to keep your audience up to date with your video content.

Creating the best channel playlists.

It is handy to display your content effectively to your audience. Viewers can get frustrated if they must search your channel looking for the right video content.

With a playlist, you can grab the attention of the viewer to boost the watch time. If you don’t like the playlist, you can always check individual videos.

Here are the best playlist tips:

  • Choose a simple playlist name.
  • 50+ playlist videos.
  • 5+ min length videos (food/healthy channels)
  • 5 – 10 min in length videos (video marketing)
  • 10+ min in length videos for lifestyle/fashion channels.
  • 10 – 30 min in length videos ( game channels)

Channel reach.

That way you, slowly grow your channel. Before you go, you must upload videos frequently, 1 video per day/ per week, and if you’re not that active, then don’t upload videos.

Because growing takes some time and effort. And if the quality of the video content is not that great, you probably get low engagement or views.

I don’t have many followers but this tactic works even on small YouTube channels. (like me🤭)
