Practice gratitude for you

Today, Iโ€™m aware of the fact that life is better than I deserve, which is saying something these days.

The world is loaded with pain and misery, sorrow and turmoil, disappointment, and regret.

So the fact that I can be thankful and mean it is, in its own way, a little wonder.

Iโ€™m learning there is a burden that comes with blogging. That I am blessed to bless. Gifted to give.

I am not lucky, fortunate, or only disciplined; I am supposed to do something with the grace Iโ€™ve been given. And so are you.

Being a blogger, I didnโ€™t understand gratitude.

In a world that seemed to hurt for no reason, practice gratitude felt unnatural. Living in a world where children die of hunger every day, it just didnโ€™t make sense.

But now, I understand. Practice gratitude is a choice.

So, today, I chose to make a list.

To practice gratitude today, follow these 7 reasons to give thanks:

  1. I am thankful for my health, being willing to guide and eat turkey dinners.
  2. I am thankful for the gift and work of writing that it is both remarkably enjoyable and simplistic at the same time. Easy to do, hard to master. Always frustrating. Always rewarding.
  3. I am especially thankful for the online community of writers and readers who are making a difference in the world. You guys inspire me.
  4. I am thankful for living in a town chock-full of imaginative minds and moments.
  5. I am thankful for doing work that values.
  6. I am thankful for movies for being able to turn part of my brain off and still be inspired.
  7. Finally, and most importantly, I am thankful for Grace for love that cannot be described (only surrendered to), for a Creator that encourages creativity, to guide us and hope that there are good times to come.

Summary

Practice gratitude is not natural nature, so this can take some time and effort.

It is a way to remind you of the many reasons you have to be grateful. But it is a practice well worth the pain.

Hereโ€™s my request to you: Take some time today, wherever you are and whatever youโ€™re doing, to come up with a gratitude list.

If it doesnโ€™t come naturally, donโ€™t let that stop you from still giving thanks. There is still much to be thankful for if we only have eyes to see.
